Every device connected to your internet's network is represented by a unique string of numbers and letters known as a MAC address. When your internet connection is performing poorly on just a single device, knowing the MAC address of that device can help track down the root cause of the issue and get you back online more quickly.
Here are the steps to find your MAC address for a handful of common devices:
Apple Devices
macOS
- Select the Apple logo on the left side of the menu bar and select "System Settings..." from the drop-down.
- Go to the Network tab in the left sidebar and choose Wi-Fi
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the "Advanced..." button in the bottom right corner
- Your MAC address will be listed under "Wi-Fi MAC Address."
iOS
- In the Settings app, tap the Wi-Fi button with your network name listed on the right.
- Tap your connected network's name again to view your Wi-Fi details.
- Your MAC address will be listed under "Wi-Fi Address."
Android

Because there are many different versions of Android devices, your individual settings may have slightly different names or may require extra steps. The instructions below are most representative of recent Android devices from Samsung. |
- In the settings app, go to the "About phone" or "About device" tab located near the bottom of the list.
- Tap the "Status information" button.
- Your MAC address will be listed under "Wi-Fi MAC Address."
Game Consoles
Playstation 5
- On the system home page, select the Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen.
- Open the Network tab, then "Connection status" and choose "View connection status."
- Your MAC address will be listed under either "MAC address (LAN cable)" or "MAC address (Wi-Fi)."
Xbox Series X/S
- On the system home page, press the Xbox button on your controller.
- Navigate to the "Profile & system" tab on the right of the sidebar and choose Settings.
- In the General tab, select Network and then Advanced settings.
- Your MAC address will be listed under either "Wired MAC" or "Wireless MAC" in the IP address tab.
Nintendo Switch
- On the system home page, navigate to the "System Settings" button.
- Scroll down and select the Internet tab from the sidebar.
- Your MAC address will be listed under "System MAC Address."
Windows
- Right-click the Internet icon on the right side of the taskbar and select "Open Network & Internet settings" from the drop-down.
- Click the Properties button under your network's status and data usage.
- Your MAC address will be listed under "Physical address (MAC)" at the bottom of the page.
