Equipment in Your Apartment
Wi-Fi Access Point (AP)
This is your Wi-Fi access point which allows your wireless devices to connect to the internet. It is attached to your wall in a central location to ensure adequate coverage in your unit. An additional access point may be included depending on your floor plan and position of adjacent units.
Networking Enclosure
Your access point is located in an enclosure, which is usually in a closet or laundry room.
Connecting to Your Wi-Fi
Network Frequencies
Your equipment will broadcast your network across two different frequency bands: 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. Your devices should dynamically take advantage of both bands to ensure high speeds throughout your apartment, but some legacy and smart home devices may have trouble getting connected initially. To help with compatibility in these situations, we recommend temporarily disabling your 5 GHz band.
Connecting a Wired Device
On the back of your access point is an ethernet port, allowing you to connect a device or wall jack to your network. To access the port, you will need to dismount the access point from the inside of your unit's networking enclosure. Here are the steps to do that:
- Rotate the access point counter-clockwise and pull away from the mounting plate once it has been released (picture 1.)
- Plug your ethernet cable into the open port on the back of the access point (picture 2.)
- Replace the access point onto the mounting plate and turn clockwise until it snaps into position.
