Haywire offers two different ways to set up automatic payments: auto-pay and payment subscriptions. They work differently, so it's worth understanding the difference before choosing one. Both are set up the same place — log in to your account and go to Settings, then Payments.
Auto-pay
Auto-pay is the recommended option for most customers. It automatically pays your exact bill amount one day before your due date, and comes with a 5 dollar per month discount on your service.
To set up auto-pay, add a credit card or bank account under Settings, then Payments. Any payment method added this way automatically has auto-pay enabled, and your discount will apply going forward.
Payment subscriptions
A payment subscription pays a fixed amount you choose, on a date you choose, every month — regardless of your actual balance due.
This is different from auto-pay in an important way: because the amount is fixed, it's possible to overpay. For example, if you set a payment subscription for 49 dollars on the 12th of each month, but you also pay your bill manually on the 10th, the subscription will still charge 49 dollars on the 12th as scheduled. This results in a credit on your account, which is automatically applied to a future bill.
Payment subscriptions do not include the 5 dollar per month auto-pay discount. That discount is only available with auto-pay.
Which one should I use?
If you'd like your exact bill paid automatically each month and want the discount, auto-pay is usually the better choice. If you specifically want a fixed amount charged on a set date regardless of your balance, a payment subscription may fit your situation better.
